The four rounds
Four stages. One practical skill journey.
Each round moves one step further from recognizing electronics components to applying practical engineering skills.
ROUND - O
Component Segregation
Identify. Sort. Know Your Components.
Participants identify, classify and segregate a mixed set of electronic components based on type, value, specifications or designated categories.
This round tests
- Component identification
- Reading component markings and values
- Understanding basic component types
- Accuracy in segregation
- Speed and attention to detail
Challenge: Can you identify the right component before the clock runs out?
ROUND - M
Soldering Skills
Precision in Every Connection.
Participants make specified soldered connections using the provided tools and materials while maintaining proper handling and safety practices.
This round tests
- Soldering technique
- Connection accuracy
- Joint quality
- Component handling
- Workstation discipline
- Time management
Challenge: Build a clean, reliable connection — not just a connection.
ROUND - I
QuickBoard Circuit Challenge
Connect. Configure. Make It Work.
Participants work with a QuickBoard to implement a given circuit or configuration, interpret requirements, select appropriate connections and configure the circuit within the allotted time.
This round tests
- Circuit interpretation
- Component selection
- Correct connections
- Practical circuit implementation
- Testing and verification
- Troubleshooting
Challenge: Can you turn a circuit requirement into a working circuit?
ROUND I
Breadboard Circuit Building
Build It. Test It. Prove It.
The final round is a comprehensive breadboard circuit-building challenge. Participants construct the required circuit, verify its operation and demonstrate the required output.
This round tests
- Circuit understanding
- Breadboard wiring
- Component selection
- Practical implementation
- Testing and measurement
- Troubleshooting
- Accuracy and time management
Challenge: Can you take the circuit from a concept on paper to a functioning prototype?
Who can participate?
Undergraduate students
Open to undergraduate students from ECE, ETE, EIE, EEE, Electronics & Computer Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics and other allied Electronics & Electrical disciplines.
What to expect on the day
A structured, time-bound and hands-on competition environment. Each round will have specific instructions, materials, time limits and evaluation requirements. Participants are expected to work accurately, safely and independently while following instructions from OSO coordinators and evaluators.
Detailed problem statements, component lists, circuit configurations and round-specific instructions will be revealed at the appropriate stage of the competition.
Participant code of conduct
A professional, safe competition environment
Report to the venue at the designated reporting time and remain available as instructed by the organizers.
Follow all instructions given by OSO coordinators, evaluators and technical staff.
Maintain professional, respectful and disciplined behaviour throughout the event.
